My experience with code is pretty limited prior to this course. I took ECON Statistics my sophomore year during the module system and used STATA extensively but I honestly don’t remember that much. Over the summer I had a brief stint participating in a mySQL bootcamp course but I didn’t finish it. In my first week of coding in R I have found it to be a good experience thus far. The videos have been helpful along with class and help from my peers. I have found the most rewarding part so far to be hitting ‘run all’ and watching the outcome of the code I have written. It is quite satisfying when the results get spit out the way you intended. So far it has been smooth sailing but if I had to pick one challenging part so far I would say it is remembering to comment before writing more code. I am most excited to just apply different datasets with what we are learning in R during this course. Taking real life data and using it to learn more about them seems like a very fulfilling task. I also thought that the graph/chart we looked at in class was fascinating and look forward to potentially creating figures like that in the future. In conclusion, having a solid experience so far and looking forward to learning more. Feeling curious and excited about the future.
